The Musica Sacra
at the cathedral St. Martin of Mainz

The churchly chor music is one of the central aspects of the liturgy which is mainly overtaken at the cathedral of St. Martin in Mainz by the already in 1874 founded Mainzer Domchor (boys choir), the Domkantorei St. Martin, Mainz and the "Mädchenchor am Dom und St. Quintin" (girls´choir").

Main task of the 3 chorus is the singing in the St. Martin´s cathedral of Mainz (germ. Hohe Dom St Martin zu Mainz). Alone but also jointly they perform in the main sunday´s services and at high catholic holidays. Additionally, the girl´s choir is in charge of the singing in the old church St. Quintin, nearby to the cathedral.

Aside the tasks in the liturgy the 3 choirs perform also in many concerts. They sing not only Christian but also secular songs, such as opera, folk or local songs. Due to many invitations the 3 choirs have presented their program all over the world not only in Germany. In the recent years, they gave concerts for example in Italy, Israel, Brasil, Canada, USA, Australia, and France.

The program of the 3 choirs is very broad and offers an overview ranging from the Gregorianic of the middle ages to modern classic music.

Due to their professional education, many of the members, especially of the boys and girl´s choirs are singing in the different opera houses in the Rhine-Main-area.

The boys chor "Mainzer Domchor", the girls chor "Mädchenchor am Dom und St. Quintin" and the Domkantorei St. Martin sing alternately every Sunday at 10:00 in the cathedrale of Mainz

Concert Tours

The boys choir "Mainzer Domchor" is currently on a concert tour in USA between October 1st, and October 14th, 2011.

Concerts will be given in Chicago, Muskegon, Washington and New York
